The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of West Sumatra (West Sumatra) stated that temporary losses due to floods and flash floods that hit a number of areas in the province based on quick calculations are estimated at Rp108.38 billion.

Spokesperson for the West Sumatra BPBD Ilham in Padang, Monday, said the data on losses of Rp108.38 billion could still change in line with the data collection process that officers continue to carry out in the field.

He said the current data actually includes accumulative components of damage and losses, because it is still in the form of fast count data. Later the data will be separated.

Ilham detailed temporary data, for Agam Regency, the loss is estimated at Rp79.85 billion, Padang Panjang at Rp28.18 billion, while the worst Tanah Datar Regency is still being calculated.

The fast count data also includes the impact of the disaster that occurred in Padang Pariaman Regency which was downstream from the Batang Anai River which overflowed on Saturday last week. Losses in Padang Pariaman are estimated at Rp312.1 million.

The disaster that hit three areas in West Sumatra last Saturday resulted in 61 deaths and 11 people are still being searched.

Of the 11 people, according to Ilham, one person is in Agam Regency and the rest is in Tanah Datar Regency.

"The SAR team together with the joint team are still searching in the field. The search is extended to the Riau border," he said.

In addition to claiming lives, the disaster forced thousands of people to flee because the houses occupied were damaged or because they were in the red zone.

Temporary data in Agam Regency as many as 196 people were displaced, Padang Panjang as many as 291 people were displaced, in Tanah Datar Regency 3,030 people were displaced. 35 families of residents who fled also occurred in Padang Pariaman Regency.

Disasters also caused severe damage to residential areas, school infrastructure, places of worship, health centers to the breakdown of a number of roads and bridges.
