Logistics And Mitigation Assistance Begins To Be Carried Out By The Joint SAR Team At The Mahakam Ulu Flood Location

SAMARINDA - Logistical assistance began to be distributed at the flood site of Mahakam Ulu (Mahulu) Regency, East Kalimantan (Kaltim) including various other mitigations related to flood victims. This assistance and mitigation was carried out after the joint SAR team from various elements of East Kalimantan Province arrived at the location.

"Last night the joint team arrived at Datah Bilang, Long Hubung District used a speed boat, then coordinated with the village head and local village officials for logistics distribution," said Head of the East Kalimantan Provincial Basarnas Dody Setiawan in a release in Samarinda, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, May 18.

Meanwhile, to get to Ujoh Bilang, Long Bagun District, Mahulu Capital City, the team continued their journey for about 3 hours due to the heavy current conditions of the Mahakam River, but in general the flooding in Mahulu continued to decline.

In this third day of operation, the joint team carried out a sweep divided into three teams, Team 1 combed the houses of residents who were still affected near the banks of the Mahakam River, in order to relocate residents who wanted to be evacuated to a safe place.

Team 2 distributes various types of food and blankets to affected residents in the Long Bagun village area and its surroundings.

Meanwhile, Team 3, which is tasked with protecting the downstream area, namely in Melak, West Kutai Regency, has the responsibility of monitoring the overflow from upstream of the river which has begun to inundate the residents' houses in West Kutai.

The development of water in Mahulu at this time, he said, has receded, leaving a small puddle on a number of roads and certain locations.

Meanwhile, the previous day, 403 houses were submerged, including Long Bagun Ilir Village inundating 53 houses, in Keloq Border Village submerging 36 houses, then 98 houses in Ujoh Bilang, 62 houses in Long Melaham, 59 houses in Mamahak Ilir, Rukun Damai Village with 52 houses, and Kampung Long Merah there were 43 houses submerged.

"Meanwhile, 12 offices were submerged, namely Koramil 0912-03/Long Bagun, Polsek Long Bagun, PLTD, Health Service, Head Office of Long Bagun, BRI, Bankaltimtara, Kampung Supervisory Office, and four village offices in Long Bagun District," he said.
