APAC DNS Forum 2024: Internet Asia Pacific Stakeholders Gather In Bali, Strengthen International Collaboration

JAKARTA - The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the Manager of the Indonesian Internet Domain Name (PANDI) will hold a Domain Name System (DNS) Forum for the Asia Pacific (APAC) region in Bali, Indonesia, on 23-24 July 2024. ICANN is an international non-profit organization that coordinates DNS and plays a key role in the operation and security of global internet. Meanwhile, PANDI is the Registerary of the Domain Name of the Indonesian state, namely.id.

Taking the theme Building Bridges: Stretching Collaboration to Shape the Internet's Future, international and regional internet stakeholders will gather at the APAC DNS Forum 2024 event in Bali to explore strengthening cooperation, seize opportunities from the internet and face the challenges that will occur. As a technical backbone, DNS supports the functioning of the global internet and forms the face of existing opportunities and innovations.

The growth of DNS, which continues to carry out its crucial role in the future, depends on the cohesion and collaboration between industry, technology and stakeholders. Without cooperation, global internet interoperability could be threatened.

The expansion of the domain name sector is expected to open up economic opportunities and eliminate language restrictions to connect those that are not yet connected. This forum also explores how the Asia Pacific region can take advantage of opportunities and contribute to digital transformation. In addition, this Forum will also reach discussions about the influence of legislation and regulations related to the internet as important as the importance of stakeholder models in internet governance.

This forum will also specially present a crucial discourse for future internet, including exploration related to the implementation and integration of relevant and contextual Blockchain technology with global internet governance," said John Sihar Simanjuntak, Chairman of PANDI.

With regional partners, ICANN has hosted DNS Forums in Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East -- for the same purpose -- for collaboration, network, and exchange of ideas about the internet's domain name industry between ICANN and the global DNS Community.,

APAC DNS Forum 2024 will be held in a hybrid manner at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia. Registration can be done for offline and online participants.

Ahead of the 2024 APAC DNS Forum, four pre-event webinars will be held in June and July with topics related to the theme of this Forum. The overall activity schedule will be announced at the end of May 2024.
