TANJUNGPINANG - The Tanjungpinang City District Attorney's Office (Kejari), Riau Islands Province (Kepri) officially detained two corruption suspects on behalf of Erwan Yuni Suryanta and Dodi Sugiarto.
"The two suspects were detained for 20 days, from May 15, 2024 to June 3, 2024 at the Class I Tanjungpinang State Detention Center,” said Head of the Legal Information Section (Kasipenkum) of the Riau Islands High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) Denny Anteng Prakoso in Tanjungpinang, Antara, Friday, May 17.
Denny said the two suspects were involved in cases of alleged criminal acts of corruption differently, but both were detained on the same day.
Suspect Erwan is suspected of being involved in corruption in improving the quality of the Tanjungpinang City slums, precisely in the Senggarang Village Area for the 2019 fiscal year.
Meanwhile, suspect Dodi was involved in the alleged corruption case in the construction of a study class building at the Raja Ali Haji Maritime University (UMRAH) campus for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.
He said the determination of the suspects Erwan and Dodi was based on the results of the investigation by the special criminal investigation team of the prosecutor's office which had obtained two sufficient pieces of evidence based on Article 184 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The detention action carried out by the Tanjungpinang Public Prosecutor's Team (JPU) has referred to Articles 21 paragraphs 1 and 4 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
"The detention of the two suspects under consideration of subjective conditions, the suspect is concerned that he will run away, destroy evidence and it is feared that he will repeat the crime again, and objectively commit a crime that is punishable by imprisonment for five years or more," he said.
Denny continued that he conveyed the actions of the two suspects suspected of violating Article 2 paragraph (1) Juncto Article 18 paragraph (1) letter b of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption Juncto Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st Criminal Code.
Then, subsidiary Article 3 Juncto Article 18 paragraph (1) letter b of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption Juncto Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.
