Meeting MBZ, Prabowo Promotes Defense Cooperation with the UAE

JAKARTA - Minister of Defense and President-elect of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto discussed cooperation in the defense sector when he met with the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan or MBZ, at Al Shati Palace, Abu Dhabi.

"Relations between Indonesia and the UAE can continue to develop and grow in line with the ambitions of the two countries in strengthening cooperation in various fields, including defense," said Prabowo in his statement, Tuesday, May 14.

This cooperation in the defense sector can include joint war training, soldier exchange education, and mutual learning about each country's defense equipment technology.

Apart from discussing cooperation in the defense sector, Prabowo and MBZ also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Prabowo also believes that this meeting can build good bilateral relations between the UAE and Indonesia.

The UAE also appreciates Prabowo's intention to build good relations by making this visit. Therefore, the UAE president gave the "Zayed" medal to Prabowo.

This medal was given as an appreciation for the sincere efforts that Prabowo has made in strengthening cooperative relations between the UAE and Indonesia.

MBZ also hopes that strategic relations between the UAE and Indonesia can continue to be established for the prosperity of both countries.

After giving the medals, the two of them were involved in a quite warm conversation. At the end of the meeting, MBZ conveyed his greetings to Indonesian President Joko Widodo via Prabowo.
