Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka visited two countries in the Middle East following the disbursement of grant funds from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Head of the Protocol and Leadership Communication Section (Prokompim) of the Surakarta City Government, Herwin Tri Nugroho Adi, said Gibran had permission for five days, May 13-17, 2024.

There are two countries visited by Gibran, namely Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

"All permits have been completed last week on May 8, 2024. Permits have also been issued from the State Secretary and permission has been issued from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' exit permit," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 13.

Herwin said that Gibran's trip abroad was to convey the progress of the disbursed grant funds.

"This is the progress of the UAE grant, it has been seen, submitting a report to MBZ (Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan) how the progress is. Including the previous hospital and grant grants have reached where," he said.

According to Herwin, what will also be discussed are the operations of several buildings whose financing uses grants from the UAE.

Thus, as long as it is not based, the temporary task as regional head is left to the Deputy Mayor of Surakarta, Teguh Prakosa.

Last week, Gibran had conveyed his plan to travel to the UAE.

"I went there to report the grants. God willing, with the grant funds we can immediately finish the hospital and the Islamic Center," he said.
