Depressed Father Kills His Toddler's Child In Tulungagung Detained By Police

TULUNGAGUNG - Tulungagung Resort Police (Polres), East Java, arrested a man suspected of having depression who killed his three-year-old biological child.

The Head of the Rejotangan Police, AKP Kasiyanto, said that Rindra Abi Prasetyo (29) killed his son by strangling and covering the victim's mouth and nose until he died at his home in Blimbing Village, Rejotangan District.

"The suspect was arrested without a fight and is currently detained at the Rejotangan Police Headquarters to undergo an investigation into the crime of his murder," said Kasiyanto, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 13.

According to him, Rendra, who is also a former Indonesian worker (TKI), is suspected of being depressed, emerging from the confession of the family witness.

The police are still bringing in expert psychologist witnesses or psychiatrists to examine the psychology of the perpetrator/suspect.

Based on the results of the examination, he said, the suspect, who had just returned from Taiwan for 10 days, was suspected of having a depression disorder.

"This depression accident also caused the suspect to be sent back to Indonesia. Rendra was reported several times in a riot in Taiwan," he said.

According to him, the suspect has been depressed since he left the country, and this is because the depression has resulted in the death of his baby.

The murder incident is estimated to have occurred on Sunday (12/5) night, around 20.00 WIB while playing with the suspect or perpetrator in the house.

Meanwhile, his wife and other family were in front of the house. Without his family knowing, the suspect then strangled and silenced the victim until he breathed his last.

"According to the testimony of the witness (wife and grandfather) the victim was strangled and then, silenced with a pillow, the strangulation made the victim die," he explained.

After strangulation, the victim left the house and smoked. Seeing the suspect leaving the house without his only child, the family became suspicious and checked the situation inside the house.

"The action then checked into the house and was surprised by the condition of the victim which was blue and not breathing. The victim was found lying on the sofa chair in the middle room," he said.

For the incident, the victim's family then reported the incident to the local village apparatus, and hoped that there would be a miracle, the victim was then rushed to the nearest medical facility.

However, after an examination was carried out, the medical authorities stated that the victim was already dead.

"The medical team stated that the victim was dead. After being declared dead, the victim's body was then taken back to the funeral home," he said.
