11 Students Died, SMK Lingga Kencana Investigate Why The Bus Rental Committee Was Not Roadworthy

The Lingga Kencana Depok Vocational School Foundation confirmed that it would ask for information from the farewell committee after the deadly accident on the Ciater derivative road, Subang Regency, West Java, Saturday, May 11, 2024.

Secretary of the Social Welfare Foundation as the manager of the Lingga Kencana Vocational School, Deddy Ahmad Mustofa, said this was done to find out the mechanism for appointing a tourism bus with the AD 7524 OG police number.

"Regarding the vehicle, we will call the organizing committee, including the travel. The committee, the teachers," he said at Lingga Kencana Vocational School, Depok City, Sunday, May 12.

The foundation management wants to dig up information as clearly as possible, starting from the reasons for choosing the travel service provider, to the condition of the driver and bus vehicle used in tourism work activities to Bandung.

The information will be extracted after the condition of the committee who also participated in the farewell event stabilizes.

"Even the children who have returned home seem to be still traumatized. The teachers who came were not stories, but tears. Now wait for calm first," said Deddy.

The victim's uncle Robiatul Adawiyah, Robby Kurnia Akbar, complained that the condition of the bus used to transport the study tour group of students at the Lingga Kencana Vocational School, had not been maintained.

"We have to look at the feasibility of the car, the main factor is that I saw that the car was really old and lacking treatment," said Robby.

Even so, he handed over the bus problem which was deemed unfit for the road to the foundation that manages Lingga Kencana Vocational School.

"If we work together with the foundation in the future, we will make efforts to get to the bus PO. I don't want to interfere with bus business, let the school handle it," he said.

Previously, a tourism bus from the Lingga Kencana Depok Vocational School student group had an accident on the Palasari Village highway, Ciater District, Subang, last Saturday at around 18.45 WIB.

The accident occurred when the bus carrying the group of students passed from Bandung to Subang.

Then when passing a downhill road, the bus suddenly swerved to the right and crossed the opposite lane until it hit a Feroza minibus vehicle number D 1455 VCD.

After hitting the vehicle on the opposite lane, the condition of the bus overturned with a tilted condition, the position of the left tire was above, until it slipped, hitting three motorbikes parked on the shoulder of the road.

While slipping on the downhill road, the bus stopped after hitting an electric pole on the shoulder of the road.

A total of 11 people died and dozens were injured in the accident.
