Ministry Of Transportation: Bus Experienced Deadly Accident In Ciater Turns Out Unlicensed

JAKARTA - The Trans Putera Fajar bus involved in the deadly accident on Jalan Raya Kampung Palasari, Ciater, Subang, West Java on Saturday 11 May 2024 turned out to not have a valid permit for transportation and periodic test pass status. This was revealed by the Directorate General of Land Transportation (Ditjen Hubdat) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub). "Through the application of Land Partners, it was recorded that the bus does not have a transport permit and the periodic test pass status has expired since December 6, 2023," said the Head of the Legal and Public Relations Section of the Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, Aznal, in his statement, Sunday, May 12. Aznal said that the Directorate General of Hubdat is currently coordinating with the police to investigate deeply the cause of the accident. Furthermore, he explained that the accident occurred at around 18.45 WIB. Bus with the police number AD 7524 OG carrying a group of students from SMK Lingga Kencana, Depok, West Java was on their way from Bandung to Subang. The bus suddenly swerved to the right and hit a motorcycle on the opposite lane and shoulder of the road, causing the bus to roll over.

"Most likely this accident was caused by a failed brake on the bus," he added. "The victims were immediately rushed to several health facilities, including Ciereng Hospital, Hamori Hospital, Jalancagak Health Center, and Palasari Health Center," explained Aznal.
