Joint Officials Halau OPM Armed Attacks In Pogapa Homeyo Papua

JAKARTA - The Free Papua Organization (OPM) of the Afrianus Bagubau and Keny Tipagau groups in the Homeyo District area, Intan Jaya Regency, again attacked the Joint Security Apparatus (Apkam) on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at around 04.30 WIT.

The attack was carried out around the eastern tip of Pogapa Airport. Previously, OPM was also known to have attacked several times in a similar area.

The Joint Apkam on guard in the Homeyo District area continues to carry out proactive steps to secure the local area from OPM disturbances.

One of them is through patrols on every inch of Homeyo land. Patrol activities that are actively carried out by the Joint Apkam bring success on Saturday morning.

The Joint Apkam involved the units of the Habema TNI Operations Command (Koops TNI) and the Nanggala Kopassus Task Force. Before the contact took place, the Joint Apkam troops in the eastern tip of Pogapa Airport were checking the area.

When the patrol was carried out, the Joint Apkam found indications of OPM's presence around the patrol area and gave chase followed by gunfire.

At the end of the pursuit of the Joint Apkam managed to find arrows and bows, flashlights, several photos of OPM, non-permanent shelters and review posts used by OPM to spy on the conditions of the Homeyo area and its surroundings.

Panglima Kogabwilhan III, Letjen TNI Richard TH Tampubolon, setelah menerima laporan keberhasilan tugas patroli mengatakan bahwa patroli di District Homeyo merupakan langkah protif Apkam Gabungan untuk mewujudkan situasi keamanan wilayah agar kondusif guna mendukung semua proses percepatan pembangunan Papua.
