Peru's President Is Now Being Investigated After Disbanding The Special Police Unit That Handles His Brother's Case

JAKARTA - Peru authorities conducted an investigation into President Dina Bouarte for disbanding a special police unit processing the law of his brother, Nicanor Boluarte, who is being held.

Reporting from CNN, Saturday, May 11, the Peruvian Prosecutor's Office said it was currently investigating the potential abuse of authority by President Boluarte and Minister of Home Affairs Walter Ortiz for disbanding police units.

Attorney General Juan Carlos Villena said authorities were considering his choice and asked the police unit to be "immediately" restored.

Authorities searched more than 20 properties on Friday, May 10, including Nicanor Boluarte's Lima home, which is accused of leading a criminal organization that affects the appointment of people in a high position in power.

A team of prosecutors and police also raided the house of Boluarte's lawyer, Mateo Castaneda, who was his adviser in the alleged gratification case. watches and jewelry. Bouarte denied the allegations.

The president's brother, along with another unnamed suspect, will remain in custody for 10 days, the Peruvian justice department said.
