UIN Lecturer Regarding Ministry Addition: Like Prabowo-Gibran Only

JAKARTA- UIN Political Sciences Lecturer Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Adi Prayitno explained that the discourse of the elected Indonesian Presidential Candidate Prabowo Subianto which will increase the number of ministries from the original number of 34 to 40 seats must change regulations.

"The regulations must be changed, just like the winners of how the cabinet will posture in the future," Adi said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 8 morning.

This condition is indeed inversely proportional to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who actually streamlined the ministry for the efficiency of the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).

Even so, he assessed that Jokowi and Prabowo had their respective stress related to the ministry.

"For the progress of the nation, the budget must be disbursed, except for the benefit of no benefit, the story is different," he said.

The number of ministries has been regulated in Article 15 of Law Number 39 of 2008 concerning the Ministry of State.

"The total number of Ministries as referred to in Article 12, Article 13, and Article 14 is at most 34," reads the article.

The explanation section of Law no. 39/2008 states that this law also intends to carry out bureaucratic reform by limiting the number of ministries to a maximum of 34.

"This means that the number of ministries is not possible to exceed that number and it is hoped that there will be a reduction," reads the explanation of the law.

Previously, Prabowo planned to increase the number of ministries from 34 to 40.

The elected Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming Raka has also responded to the news of the increase in the number of ministries to 40 seats. According to him, the composition of the cabinet is currently still being discussed with various parties.

He did not rule out the possibility of increasing ministerial seats in the Prabowo-Gibran cabinet. In fact, he acknowledged that one of the ministries being initiated was the special ministry to take care of the free lunch program.

The free lunch program is a program that is the mainstay of the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair number 2 Prabowo-Gibran during the 2024 presidential election campaign period.

Gibran also admitted that the program was not simple, so special institutions needed to handle it.
