Today's SYL Corruption Continuation Session, Prosecutors Present 4 Ministry Of Agriculture Witnesses

JAKARTA - The trial of the alleged extortion and acceptance of gratuities with the defendant Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL was held again today. The Public Prosecutor (JPU) at the Corruption Eradication Commission or the KPK will present four witnesses.

In this case, it is not only SYL who is the defendant. The other two are Kasdi Subagyono as the former Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Muhammad Hatta who is the former Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Ministry of Agriculture.

"Today in the trial of the defendant Syahrul Yasin Limpo and his friends, the Prosecutor's team presented (four people) witnesses," said the Head of the KPK News Section, Ali Fikri, in his statement, Wednesday, May 8.

The four witnesses presented included the Director of Settlement Development at the Ministry of Agriculture, Gunawan; Secretary of the Directorate General of Agricultural Infrastructure and Facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture, Hermanto; Head of Administration and Rumga of the Ministry of Agriculture, Lukman Irwanto; and Treasurer of Expenditures of the Directorate General of Agricultural Facilities infrastructure of the Ministry of Agriculture, Puguh Hari Prabowo.

In the case of alleged extortion and gratification, Syahrul Yasin Limpo was charged with extortion of up to Rp44.5 billion during the 2020-2023 period. This action was carried out together with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi Subagyono and the Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Directorate General of Infrastructure and Facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture Muhammad Hatta.

This money was then used for the benefit of Syahrul's wife and family, invited gifts, the NasDem Party, religious events, aircraft charters to Umrah and sacrifices. In addition, he was also charged with receiving gratuities of Rp40.6 billion from January 2020 to October 2023.
