Marriage Of Indonesian Citizens Becomes The Mode Of Nigerian Foreigners Fake Email International Companies

The Directorate of Cyber Crime, Bareskrim Polri, revealed the modus operandi of suspects in cases of fraudulent email mode fraud by international companies.

Director of Cyber Crime at Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Himawan Bayu Aji said the suspects used Indonesian citizens (WNI) to marry.

The fake company is named Badminton Asia International while the original company is called Badminton Asia.

"So this is a syndicate crime because the modus operandi is that Nigerian citizens use Indonesian citizens here to create fake companies," Himawan said at a press conference at the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Tuesday, May 7.

Himawan said, after creating a company that resembles the original company, the perpetrator then created an account. The reason that can make an account is Indonesian citizens.

"Then the mode is to make a girlfriend, but this time there is a female suspect who is dated or married and persuaded to create accounts and companies," he said.

It is known that investigators from the Cyber Crime Directorate managed to arrest five suspects consisting of four men and one woman, two of whom were foreign nationals, namely Nigeria.
