MUI Uses The Principle Of "Amar Makruf Nahi Mungkar" Support Prabowo's Government

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) carries the principle of "majoruf nahi munkar" in providing support for the era of a new government led by the President and Vice President-elect Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

"Because we have a principle in the MUI which says that the leader's goal is basically to provide benefits to the people," said MUI Chairman Anwar Iskandar while accompanying Vice President Ma'ruf Amin in an interview session after attending the MUI bihalal halal event in Jakarta, Tuesday, May 7, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said the MUI had decided on an attitude towards the new government, which was basically a partner for the government in realizing its commitment to providing benefits to the people.

"So of course there is no other choice for MUI except to support the legitimate government and have a commitment to the welfare of the people," he said.

The support given, continued Anwar, is in the form of good advice, guidance, and criticism, because partnering is not only in accordance with what is desired, but also reminds of wrong policies.

"That is the principle of "makruf nahi mungkar", but of course in a way of wisdom, because in essence advice is good good stuff, it must be conveyed in a good way," he said.

On that occasion, Anwar also conveyed a number of commitments involving MUI, Bank Indonesia (BI), Financial Services Authority (OJK), with the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) which led to cooperation in sharia economic empowerment.

"Furthermore, there was also the handover of assistance from MUI to the National Amil Zakat Agency and for donations from the Palestinian people in Gaza," he said.
