Attending The 97th Celebration Of The Indonesian Christian Huria Year At HKI Juanda, Depok Regional Secretary: Thank You For The Togetherness

Depok Regional Secretary Supian Suri With HKI Panatua Juanda Depok St Thoman Hutasoit

Depok City Government Regional Secretary (Sekda), Supian Suri said he was happy to be able to celebrate 97 years of the establishment of the Indonesian Christian Huria which was held at the HKI Juanda Depok Church.

"Thank you for the togetherness so far. Hopefully togetherness so far can continue to be built," said Supian Suri at the HKI Juanda Church in Depok, Jalan Perjuangan, Cisalak Village, Sukmajaya District, Sunday, May 5.

Regional Secretary Supian Suri came to HKI Juanda to attend the celebration of the 97th Anniversary of the Indonesian Christian Huria which has more than 900 churches throughout Indonesia. The arrival of Supian at the same time to stay in touch with church congregants who have been worshiping there for 9 years.

The HKI Juanda congregation said they were happy with the arrival of their leader. Moreover, Supian was willing to spend time in the midst of his busy event.

"Just now I was at Bojong Sari, chasing time here," he said.

"This gathering continues togetherness with HKI Juanda which has built its congregation here for nine years," said Supian.

On that occasion, the HKI Juanda congregation expressed their concern to the Bang SS, the nickname of the Depok City Secretary, regarding the existence of the Church building which was threatened with being evicted. This concern arose because the HKI Juanda Church Building was on land belonging to the Indonesian International Islamic University (UIII).

Supian emphasized that the construction of UIII is directly under the coordination of the central government, in this case the Ministry of Religion. However, the Depok City Government (Pemkot) will try to help communicate the problem.

"Hopefully the central government can accommodate it, because in principle Depok has a religious background, it should have the same space (to worship)," explained Supian.

Thanks to the HKI Juanda Church, Thoman Hutasoit said, HKI Juanda has been around since 2015.

"This HKI church is spread throughout Indonesia and is 97 years old, for in HKI Juanda it is 9 years old. We hope that the government will continue to provide facilities for us to worship," he concluded.

This event was also attended by a member of the DPRD from the PDI-P, Fransiskus Samosir. He hopes that the Depok City Government through the Regional Secretary Supian Suri can really pay more attention to the fate of HKI Juanda.
