JAKARTA - To date, prospective pilgrims whose data has been verified to get a Hajj visa have reached 223,474 people. This was revealed by the Director of Domestic Hajj Services at the Directorate General of Hajj and Umrah at the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) Saiful Mujab.

"So the documents we have processed have exceeded the hajj quota this year, reaching 104.76 percent, because they also include pilgrims with reserve quotas," Saiful said in a press statement received, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, May 4.

He said the verified data was processed so that if someone postpones departure, the congregation with a reserve status can fill in the quota because it can take care of the visa.

According to him, of the 223,474 verified documents, 212,429 applications for visa issuance have been submitted for regular Hajj pilgrims.

Saiful hopes that with the breakthrough in the visa management process, all quotas of Indonesian pilgrims can be fully absorbed.

He also explained that the visa issuance process began with data input and Hajj documents by teams at the provincial and district/city Ministry of Religion.

Furthermore, the data was given to the central Ministry of Religion to then process its visa at the Saudi Arabian Embassy through immigration.
