Discussing The Evaluation Of The 2024 Election, Commission II Of The DPR Calls KPU May 15

JAKARTA - Commission II of the DPR will summon the General Election Commission (KPU) and related institutions to hold an evaluation meeting for the 2024 General Election on 15 May.

"The continuation of the meeting during yesterday's trial," said Chairman of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives Ahmad Doli Kurnia when contacted in Jakarta, Friday, May 3, was confiscated by Antara.

According to him, a number of institutions invited were still the same as the previous meeting, namely the KPU, the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu), the Election Organizers Honorary Council (DKPP), and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

During the previous session, Commission II of the DPR held a meeting related to the 2024 General Election in parliament, Monday, April 1. However, the meeting was postponed due to the absence of representatives from the KPU.

Meanwhile, member of Commission II of the DPR Guspardi Gaus said that at the evaluation meeting there were many things that would be confirmed to the KPU regarding the implementation of the 2024 General Election.

What will be confirmed, he said, is related, among other things, to various public assumptions regarding the implementation of the 2024 General Election. In addition, the legislator in Commission II will confirm the issues that hit KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari.

"We will also question the supervisory function. Why is it barren? Why not impose sanctions?" said Guspardi when contacted separately.

Previously, the KPU did not attend the invitation to the Commission II meeting of the DPR RI because it coincided with the agenda period for the 2024 presidential election dispute trial at the Constitutional Court (MK).

After the trial at the Constitutional Court was completed, the Indonesian KPU also appointed the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka pair as the elected candidate pair in the 2024 presidential election.

The determination is contained in the minutes number 252/PL.01.9-BA/05/2024 concerning the Determination of Candidate Pairs for President and Vice President Elected in the 2024 General Election.
