Ahok Criticizes The Deactivation Of NIK Jakarta Residents Living Outside The Region: Don't Bother People, Lah

JAKARTA - Former DKI Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) criticized the DKI Provincial Government's plan to deactivate the population identification number (NIK) of Jakarta residents living outside the area.

According to Ahok, residents who are targeted for the deactivation of the NIK will be bothered to take care of the administration of the affected inauguration.

Not to mention, it is feared that unscrupulous persons or brokers will emerge from the processing of the document.

"For me, it's not very important. So, don't bother people," Ahok said in a video on his YouTube account, Call Me BTP, quoted on Friday, May 3.

Ahok is also worried about the fate of Jakarta residents who live outside the city because of job demands.

"For example, you are assigned to work outside the city for up to 6 months. Cook, you have to lose your ID card in Jakarta? How difficult it is for you to take care of everything just because you worked (outside)," he said.

According to Ahok, if Jakarta was predicted as a megapolitan city after the transfer of IKN, the provincial government should not have to question any ID cards and open space for all people to come.

"We should have opened this megapolitan (to) anyone who is looking for food in Jakarta. As long as it doesn't create crime or harm Jakarta. That's more important in my opinion," added Ahok.
