JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) said that the flood alert status in Jambi Province which ended on Tuesday, April 30, was not extended. The reason is that Jambi has entered the dry season in mid-May.

The Head of the Jambi BPBD Emergency and Logistics Division, Andre Eko Rinjani, said the estimated dry season was based on BMKG data from the Sultan Thaha Jambi Meteorological Station.

"Along with the intensity of the rain that has fallen, especially in the Muaro Jambi and Batanghari Regencies, the flood disaster alert status will not be extended again," he said in Jambi, Thursday, May 2, which was confiscated by Antara.

Jambi Province has set a flood disaster alert from December 29, 2023 to April 30, 2024.

The Jambi Province area from December 2023 to February 2024 was recorded that at least nine regencies/cities had established emergency response status for floods and landslides with the number of affected villages as many as 584 villages in 85 sub-districts.

"From the percentage of the number and impact of the existing disaster, this is a fairly large flood, which has existed. Because of the 11 regencies/cities, only Tanjabbar districts have not had a significant impact, including the city of Jambi, which so far no floods have been affected," he said.

However, the Jambi BPBD continues to appeal to people who carry out activities around the Batanghari River to remain vigilant, even though the water level of the Batanghari River is starting to recede and the intensity of the rain is starting to decrease.

The water level of the Batanghari River is currently still 11 meters high or under alert conditions. This means that the water level is in a safe condition, even so, people who carry out activities around the Batanghari River are more careful because disasters can occur at any time and happen to anyone.

Based on the BMKG report, Sultan Thaha Jambi from an early warning that on April 29 it still has the potential to rain with light to moderate intensity in several areas in Jambi.
