Temporary Closure Of Djalaluddin Gorontalo Airport Extended Impact Of Mount Ruang Eruption

GORONTALO - Temporary closure of Djalaluddin Airport in Gorontalo Regency, Gorontalo Province which was affected by Mount Ruang volcanic ash was extended until Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 12.00 WITA.

"Until now, there has been no flight activity due to the temporary closure which was extended from Tuesday, April 30 at 16.00 WITA, to tomorrow," said Head of Subdivision of Finance and Administration at Djalaluddin Airport, Dody Mano, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 30.

Dody explained that the consideration of temporary closure of airport activities was carried out in accordance with observations of Mount Ruang volcanic ash, which is located in Sitaro Regency, North Sulawesi.

"Currently, the airline is providing information on flight cancellations and diverting flight schedules to prospective passengers," said Dody.

He said, on Wednesday (1/5) tomorrow, Djalaluddin Airport and related policy makers will again hold a meeting to evaluate the development of the impact of volcanic ash in Gorontalo.

The current eruption of Mount Ruang in North Sulawesi, which has expanded, has reached the airspace of Djalaluddin Gorontalo Airport and disrupted flight safety in the Gorontalo Province.

Djalaluddin Gorontalo Airport and related policy makers, including the Office of the Airport Authority Region VIII Manado, GM Airnav Manado, and Information Services Aeronautics Manado continue to coordinate periodically.

At around 16.00 WITA, volcanic ash from Mount Ruang began to be seen in a number of locations around Djalaluddin Gorontalo Airport.
