JAKARTA - Masses of students broke windows and raised the pro-Palestinian flag against the historic Hamilton Hall hall at Columbia University, United States (US).

They refused to disperse from the rules called for by the campus after recently making the Columbia University area a camp site and demonstrations against the military occupation of Gaza.

Citing NBC News, these students were inspired by mass demonstrations against the Vietnam War in 1968 which also occupied the Hamilton Hall hall.

"Let's finish what they did in 1968," said one of the demonstrators.

"This building [aula] is nowliberated," said another.

Efforts to enter the hall were only hours after students who took sides with Palestine in this demonstration were given disciplinary action by the campus in the form of drop outs or dismissals.

Teaching and learning activities at Columbia University are also temporarily closed. However, students continue to show their taste.

The demonstrators were seen hanging banners on the balcony of the hall building by simply changing the Hamilton Hall to "Hind's Hall" in honor of a 6-year-old girl named Hind Rajab who died in Gaza.

Hind Rajab, whose whereabouts were unknown to his family on the 12th day, called rescue workers to be rescued from Israel's deadly attack on Gaza.

The recording of the child's phone call went viral in the online media sparking sympathetic action and public anger. In the recording, Hind sounded scared and stunned begging the officers to save his life.

NBC News interviewed Hind Rajab's mother. The mother said her son's body was found in February 2024 with the body of a paramedics sent to save him after an emergency call. Meanwhile, the remains of the paramedics' ambulance were burned around the location.
