Pomdam Jaya Guntur And Puspomal Branch Detention Centers Deactivated, KPK Will Entrust Suspects At Polda Metro

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has ensured that the detention of corruption suspects will not be disrupted even though it temporarily closes two detention centers, namely Pomdam Jaya Guntur and the Naval Police Center (Puspomal).

Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri said the detainees would later be placed in their two detention centers, namely the Red and White Branch of the KPK Rutan and the C1 Building Branch.

Even if it is full, they will look for alternatives such as being placed in the Polda Metro Jaya detention center.

"Even if, for example, C1 and detention centers in K4 are full, of course, we also have coordination and cooperation with the Regional Police, for example. So that they can be placed in the Polda detention center and detention centers around Jakarta," Ali told reporters.

"We want to make sure that the process of handling cases at the KPK continues because the detention center is part of the supporting system in prosecution," he continued.

Ali then explained that his two detention centers were deliberately deactivated first. This is because they lack personnel after firing dozens of their employees due to alleged illegal levies.

"But later in the future, when the existing personnel are adequate, of course we will reactivate the two KPK branches," said the spokesman with the prosecutor's background.

Previously reported, there were 15 people who were suspected of extortion in the KPK detention center. They include the Head of the KPK Detention Center Achmad Fauzi, former Acting KPK Karutan Deden Rochendi and Ristanta, and Hengki who are ex-Kamtib Detention Centers.

The suspects allegedly managed to collect up to IDR 6.3 billion for four years from 2019-2023.

The money was obtained from detainees in corruption cases with various amounts ranging from Rp. 300 thousand to Rp. 20 million. The handover is carried out directly or through a holding bank account controlled by the lurah and corting.
