Prabowo Subianto Calls Sustainability Still Running In New Government But Needs Improvement

JAKARTA - The elected President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto said that the sustainability that would be implemented by his government and the elected Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka would later continue to make a number of improvements. "Is everything good? Of course not. Does it need improvement? Of course it is necessary. Do we need to take the initiative, innovate, find solutions that are felt faster by the people? Of course we have to do that," he said at the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Office (PBNU), Jakarta, Antara, Sunday, April 28. This was conveyed by Prabowo to refer to the sustainability he would carry later from the Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin government. However, the Minister of Defense also said that continuity or sustainability remained important. "Why? Because we need continuity. We need a commitment to sustainability. Good things, investments, people's money that is already so large must be secured," he said. Meanwhile, he believes that the government's job is to work seriously in the interests of the people. He mentioned this when he recalled the days of joining the Jokowi-Ma'ruf government after losing in the 2019 presidential election. "With Pak Jokowi's invitation to join, with me entering the government, with me coming from close to the discussions, the decisions taken by Pak Jokowi, I believe that it is the duty of the government, the task of accepting people's trust is really, really, really have to work for the benefit of all Indonesian people, for the safety of all Indonesian people," he explained. In addition, he recalled that it did not take him long to decide to join the Jokowi-Ma'ruf government. "I joined Pak Jokowi even though we had been opposite, competing for a long time during the two general elections. As soon as he invited me, I thought, I thought maybe only half an hour, and I said I joined," he recalled. He also recalled that he decided to join full awareness that the challenges faced by the Indonesian nation were not getting easier, and were not getting simpler. Previously, the General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia appointed Prabowo-Gibran as the Candidate Pair for President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia to be elected in the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections in accordance with KPU Decree Number 504 of 2024. "Decided, first, to determine that the pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates elected in the 2024 General Election determine the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair number 2 Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates elected for the period 2024 — 2029 in the 2024 General Election," said KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari at the Indonesian KPU Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (24/4).

Hasyim explained that Prabowo-Gibran won 96,214,691 votes or 58.59 percent of the total national legitimate votes and met at least 20 percent of the votes in each province spread across 38 provinces in Indonesia. This decision came into effect since it was enacted on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.
