Arrest Dealers In Samarinda, East Kalimantan, Police Secure 1.5 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine In Swallow's Nest

The police uncovered a case of drug abuse of 1.52 kilograms (kg) of methamphetamine by arresting a man with the initials MR in Sungai Kapih Village, Samarinda City, East Kalimantan (Kaltim), Wednesday, April 24 in the morning.

"The suspect MR (47) was arrested along with evidence covering 15 packs of crystal methamphetamine weighing about 100 grams each, a black crackle, a black tote bag, and a Realme brand cellphone," said Head of Samarinda Police, Police Commissioner Ary Fadli when releasing the disclosure of the case at the Samarinda Police Headquarters, Thursday, April 25, confiscated by Antara.

The police chief said MR was strongly suspected of being involved in a large narcotics network. MR's arrest is the result of the development of a previous case involving a man with the initials SS, who claimed to have received methamphetamine from MR for resale.

The chronology of the disclosure of the drug case began with the arrest of SS on Jalan P. Hidayatullah, Port Village, Samarinda, a few days ago, which led to the arrest of MR at the Sungai Kapih Village workshop location, Samarinda City.

"Further searches of the swallow's nest (bird) warehouse, which was locked by MR, resulted in the findings of the methamphetamine," said Ary.

From the results of the initial examination, MR admitted that the methamphetamine belonged to him and was obtained from a person with the initials RW in Banjarmasin in March 2024 weighing 2,000 grams or 2 kg.

MR acts as a dealer who brings in and sells methamphetamine in Samarinda.

Suspect MR was charged with Article 114 Paragraph (2) subsidiary Article 112 Paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 Year 2009 concerning Narcotics, with the maximum threat of the death penalty or life imprisonment, or 20 years imprisonment.

"This case is still under further development to arrest other perpetrators involved in this network, including the RW, which is currently a wanted list (DPO)," said the Chief of Police.
