Three Motorcycle Thief Specialists In Tambora, West Jakarta, Threatened With 15 Years In Prison

Three suspects in the theft of dozens of motorbikes in the West Jakarta area with the initials RKS (21) and RS (28) as executors and BS (25), a jockey who was arrested on Sunday, April 21, face 15 years in prison.

Tambora Police Chief Kompol Donny Harvida said the suspects were suspected of being involved in the theft with weights plus emergency articles because one of the suspects was carrying a sharp weapon.

"All suspects are charged with this article under Article 363 of the Criminal Code and Article 2 Paragraph 1 of the Emergency Law Number 12 of 51 with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison," said Donny, Thursday, April 25.

The police secured 37 motorbikes and several other pieces of evidence in the disclosure of the case.

"There are 37 (motorcycles) with various brands of two-wheeled vehicles, then T letters, screwdrivers, one triangle key, six STNK sheets, six two-wheeled vehicle number plates and one sword," said Donny.

Donny continued that one of the perpetrators, RS, was a recidivist of the same case and was only released from prison in February 2024.

"Then as the leader of these three people, the hospital acts as a jockey. He recruited two others (via social media). He was once convicted of the same crime," said Donny.

Most of the stolen motorbikes (25 units) were accommodated in the suspect's rented house in the Kalianyar, Tambora, and partly in storage houses in the Cengkareng and Grogol Petamburan areas.

"Apart from Tambora, development was carried out, it was also obtained in Cengkareng or in Grogol Petamburan," said Donny.

Until now, one of the perpetrators with the initials U is still being chased by the Police.

"So here there is actually one more person suspected of being a collector with the initials U, in pursuit. His identity has been obtained," said Donny.
