4 Robbers Accompanied By Confinement In Malang Threatened With 12 Years In Prison

A total of four robbers in Kalipare District, Malang Regency, East Java (East Java) who took action on Friday, April 5, 2024, face a maximum prison sentence of 12 years.

Malang Deputy Police Chief Kompol Imam Mustolih said the four had the initials M (43), ES (51), KA (43) and S (40) were charged with Article 365 paragraph (2) number 2 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).

"The perpetrators face a maximum prison sentence of 12 years," he said at a press conference at the Malang Police Headquarters, East Java, Thursday, April 25, which was confiscated by Antara.

Imam explained that the robbery incident occurred on Friday, April 5 at 08.04 WIB in Krajan Hamlet, Tumparejo Village, Kalipare District with the victim with the initials RS (43). The victim was held captive by the six perpetrators.

According to him, after receiving reports of the robbery, the Malang Police Investigation and Criminal Unit (Satreskrim) conducted an investigation and arrested four perpetrators. Meanwhile, the other two perpetrators are currently still being chased by officers.

"The joint team then managed to identify the perpetrators. Then, on April 20, 2024, four perpetrators were arrested at their respective homes," he said.

Malang Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Gandha Syah Hidayat added that the robbery incident began when six perpetrators planned to rob four times. One of the perpetrators with the initials S is a neighbor of the victim.

"The plan to rob this has been canceled several times, only succeeded in the fourth action. The perpetrator found out that the victim was keeping cash, because he had a business to lend money to neighbors," he said.

The suspects, he continued, had their respective roles, namely M, was a planner for a robbery with one of the other perpetrators who is currently still at large. During the robbery, suspect M was waiting in the car used to the victim's house.

Before carrying out the robbery, suspect S first observed the victim's house which had been targeted. Then, suspect S gave a code to other suspects to move to the victim's house.

"The rest, the four suspects headed home and then greeted the victim with their nickname. The victim who came out was immediately smothered by the perpetrator and taken to one of the rooms. The victim's hands, feet, mouth and eyes were closed," he said.

After carrying out the robbery, the perpetrators then fled towards Blitar Regency. The robbers took Rp55 million in cash, a number of gold jewelry and seven Motor Vehicle Ownership Books (BKPB).

"The money from the robbery, including the jewelry that was sold, was then divided by the perpetrators, some received Rp. 5 million, Rp. 7 million and Rp. 12 million. It depends on each role. Money is used for Eid needs," he added.

In the disclosure of the case, the Malang Police Satreskrim confiscated a number of evidences such as a large tape or adhesive tape used to bind the victim, cash amounting to Rp. 2 million and a four-wheeled vehicle borrowed to carry out a robbery.
