JAKARTA - The Bekasi Regency Government, West Java, has installed 10 surveillance cameras to support the police's efforts in implementing electronic tickets and at the same time supporting the 'Smart City' program in the area.

The Regional Secretary of Bekasi Regency, Uju, said that the 10 surveillance cameras are planned to be installed on four roads with a relatively dense volume of vehicles.

"Some surveillance cameras have been installed, especially at the SGC Cikarang Utara intersection, which will be the first location for the implementation of this electronic ticket in the middle of this month based on coordination with the Bekasi Metro Police," he said in Cikarang, reported by Antara, Friday, March 5.

Uju explained that at the Sentra Grosir Cikarang, Jalan RE Martadinata, Cikarang Kota Village, North Cikarang District, currently a surveillance camera has been installed and is ready to operate.

"At that location there are two cameras, one direction Karawang and the other pointing to Cibitung. Eight more cameras are planned to be installed at the other three points," he said.

The three points are Jalan Ki Hajar Dewantara, Simpangan Village, Cikarang Utara District or close to the Bekasi Metro Police Headquarters, Ejip Industrial Area, Sukaresmi Village, South Cikarang District, and the Bekasi Regency Government Office intersection in Sukamahi Village, Cikarang Pusat District.

"Installation at these three points will follow later, but the plan is this year too," he said.

Uju said the 'Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement' camera was equipped with video analytic intelligence technology to make it easier to carry out detailed and automatic monitoring. The information center and electronic ticket data will be monitored by the police.

He ensured that the four road segments that were planned as the point of application of the electronic ticketing were difficult to match considering that these roads were always crowded with vehicles.

"Of the four locations, there are also three lanes, so they must be equipped with three surveillance cameras," he said.

Bekasi Metro Police Chief Commissioner Hendra Gunawan said this policy was in line with the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo's program in the context of transparent law enforcement in the traffic sector towards 'Presisi Polri'.

Traffic violations that are subject to electronic ticketing include violations of road markings, traffic signs, use of helmets and seat belts, to using cell phones while driving.

"Hopefully with this ETLE the rate of traffic violations will decrease, the number of accidents can also be reduced," he said.
