Mahfud MD's Message For The Future Election: Must Be Improved So That There Is No Abuse Of Power

JAKARTA - Vice Presidential Candidate number three, Mahfud MD reminded that the general election (election) must be corrected. Abuse of authority and fraud should not happen again in the future.

This was conveyed by Mahfud when asked about the dissenting opinion of three judges of the Constitutional Court (MK), namely Saldi Isra, Enny Nurbaningsih, and Arief Hidayat when deciding the 2024 presidential election dispute.

Initially, he did not want to talk further about the legitimacy of Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the elected presidential and vice presidential candidates due to differences of opinion. Mahfud only said that the decision read out today, Monday, April 22, should be a marker of the 2024 presidential election.

"Anyway, today's Constitutional Court decision hopefully eliminates political counters. I don't want to talk about legitimacy, legal legality, we'll see the progress," Mahfud told reporters at the Ganjar-Mahfud Command Post, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Monday, April 22.

Mahfud assessed that the 2024 presidential election polemic should stop in line with the Constitutional Court's decision. This is because all parties must focus on more important things such as the current global conditions.

"Because in various parts of the world, now the geopolitical situation is becoming a problem and it could have an impact on us," he said.

In addition, the implementation of elections must also be a concern. Moreover, the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada will soon be held.

Mahfud reminded that there should be no abuse of authority and fraud. Moreover, the three Constitutional Court judges alluded to it in the dissenting opinion tang readout.

"For the future election, of course, it must be corrected both dissenting and undissented, so that for the elections in the future, it is hoped that structuring will be carried out so that there will be no abuse of power and no fraud will occur. All judges talk," said the former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.

"And the election will start the selection, the registration is in June. So because it's been two months now, the judge asked that there be an arrangement, whether it's the regulations, the PKPU or what, we'll see later developments," concluded Mahfud.
