4 Days Closed Due To The Eruption Of Mount Ruangan, Monday Afternoon Sam Ratulangi Airport Returns To Operation

MANADO - Sam Ratulangi Airport (Samrat) Manado, North Sulawesi, began operating normally on Monday at 12.01 WITA after previously being closed since Thursday 18 April due to being affected by volcanic ash in Mount Ruang, Tagulandang, Sitaro Islands, North Sulawesi.

"After almost five days of closure, finally this afternoon the airport opened and operates normally again," said General Manager of Angkasa Pura I Samrat Maya Damayanti in Manado, North Sulawesi, quoted by ANTRAA Monday, April 22.

Maya said that based on NotamA1041/24 NOTAMR A1021/24, it was notified that the temporary closure of Sam Ratulangi Airport operations had been reopened.

Meanwhile, Samrat Airport Public Relations Manado Yanti Pramono added that the opening of Samrat Airport on Monday afternoon was due to observations of Mount Ruang's volcanic ash distribution activity that allowed flights to be carried out.

"After opening, we will continue to monitor the activities of Mount Ruangan in order to maintain aspects of flight safety and security," he said.

Sam Ratulangi Airport has been closed since Thursday (18/4/2024) following the eruption of Mount Ruang on Tuesday (16/4/2024). On Sunday (21/4/2024) it was decided to extend the airport to Monday.

Mount Ruang rupsi sejak 16 April 2024 sore hari setelah terjadi peningkatan aktivitas kekempatannya. Pada hari yang sama, status gunung tersebut berubah hingga tiga kali, dari Normal ke Alert, Siaga, dan terakhir Awas.
