Maraton Meeting, Constitutional Court Judges Until Staying Ahead Of The Presidential Election Lawsuit Decision

JAKARTA - The Constitutional Court (MK) judge returned late at night until he stayed because he held a marathon judicial deliberation meeting (RPH) ahead of the decision on the 2024 General Election Result Dispute (PHPU) case.

"Some stay, some don't. But many go home at night," said Head of the Legal and Administrative Bureau of the Constitutional Court Fajar Laksono as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, April 18.

Fajar emphasized that the trial for reading the presidential election dispute decision this year will be held on April 22, 2024. He also said that there was no possibility of the schedule being accelerated.

"It's not a matter of speed, speed, or not. The important thing is that the provisions of the law are fulfilled," said Fajar.

Based on Article 50 of the Constitutional Court Regulation Number 4 of 2023, the PHPU of the Presidential Election was decided by the Constitutional Court within a maximum deadline of 14 days from the time the application was recorded in the Electronic Constitutional Case Registration Book (e-BRPK).

"How many are the 14 days? It's (on date) 22 (April), right. So far, the schedule for 22 (April) has been scheduled for a meeting and there are no plans to speed up even though for example a decision has been made, but it remains on the 22nd," said Fajar.

Sebelumnya, Fajar mengatakan RPH terkait PHPU Pilpres 2024 telah berlangsung sejak Selasa (16/4). RPH terus marathon sampai tanggal 22 April kita sidang mengucapan putusan, ucap Fajar.

The RPH was only attended by constitutional judges who tried cases and other officers who had been sworn in. RPH focuses on discussing the PHPU case for the presidential election, decision making, and making decisions.

"The petitioner's argument, the facts of yesterday's trial, were discussed until the 21st (April), including the preparation until the drafting of the verdict. That's all, the discussion of cases, decision making, preparation, and the finalization of the draft decision on 22 (April)," he explained.

In addition, he said electronic devices are not allowed in the RPH. I think yes (electronics are not allowed in the RPH) to minimize something unwanted, there is a mechanism that we apply, so that it is closed and confidentiality is guaranteed," he said.
