Bareskrim Polri Unloads Drug Smuggling Into Aircraft Cabin Involving Lion Air Employees

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police revealed the mode of smuggling drugs through the aircraft cabin. In that case, seven people were named suspects, two of whom were Lion Air employees.

"We managed to arrest 7 suspects," said Deputy Director of Drug Crimes at Bareskrim Polri Kombes Arie Ardian to reporters, Thursday, April 18.

The two Lion Air employees had the initials DA and RD. While others are MRP, R, JD, HF, and BA. They are a drug network that wants to smuggle Medan ecstasy and methamphetamine into Jakarta.

Arie conveyed that two Lion Air employees acted as submitting drug packages to a courier with the initials MRP.

"Brothers DA and RD, where the person concerned is an employee or lavatory service officer of airline L who handed over narcotics to couriers," he said.

Then, the suspect HF was the mastermind of smuggling. He arranged the drug delivery process.

From the results of the investigation, HF is known to be a former employee of Avsec Bandar Kualanamu.

"This HF was assisted by his wife, BA. Where his wife played a role in preparing tickets for MR's courier and monitoring the whereabouts or position of MR during the trip," said Arie.

Then, suspect R, who played the role of a drug user recipient when he arrived at Soekarno Hatta Airport. In addition, he was also tasked with taking him to the customer.

Finally, the suspect JD was in charge of taking or delivering goods from HF. Then, hand it over to DA and RD.

"There are 3 DPOs that we are pursuing, namely brother E, Y, and PP," said Arie.

In the disclosure of the case, Bareskrim Polri confiscated five kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 1,841 pills of ecstasy.
