The Caretaker Of The Islamic Boarding School In Semarang Who Molested Santri Was Sentenced To 15 Years In Prison

SEMARANG - The Semarang City District Court (PN) sentenced the caretaker of the Hidayatul Hikmah Al Kahfi Islamic Boarding School located in Lempongsari, Semarang City, Central Java, MA alias BAA, to the act of obscenity against a female student.

Semarang City District Court spokesman Haruno Patriadi said the verdict handed down in a closed trial to the public was the same as the prosecutor's demands.

He said the decision was handed down in a trial chaired by Chief Judge Sri Astuti.

In addition to corporal punishment, the judge also imposed a fine of Rp. 1 billion which, if not paid, would be replaced with imprisonment for 6 months.

"The defendant was also sentenced to pay a restitution of Rp. 30.8 million to the victim," he said.

In this case, he continued, the defendant was found guilty of violating Article 81 paragraph 1 of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning child protection.

The incident of sexual abuse of the defendant MA alias BAA against the victim MJ occurred from April to December 2021.

The defendant allegedly molested the victim by threatening him at a hotel in Semarang City.
