Former Muna Regent Sued 3 Years 5 Months In Prison In PEN Bribery Case

JAKARTA - Former Regent of Muna, Southeast Sulawesi, La Ode Muhammad Rusman Emba, was sentenced to imprisonment for 3 years and 5 months related to the bribery case for managing the National Economic Recovery (PEN) fund of Muna Regency in 2021-2022.

The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Irwan Ashadi said the actions committed by Rusman Emba had fulfilled the elements of the article formulated, namely committing a criminal act of corruption in the form of bribery.

"We, the public prosecutor, demand that the panel of judges decide to sentence the defendant in the form of imprisonment of 3 years and 5 months," said Irwan during a trial at the Corruption Court (Tipikor) at the Central Jakarta District Court (PN) as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, April 18.

In addition, continued the Prosecutor, Rusman was also charged with a fine of Rp. 250 million, subsidiary to imprisonment for 6 months.

Irwan revealed that Rusman's demands were burdensome, namely that the defendant's actions did not support the government's program in eradicating corruption.

Meanwhile, he continued, there were also several things that eased the demands, namely Rusman has family responsibilities, is polite and respects the trial, and has never been convicted.

Meanwhile, Rusman Emba was charged with being with the owner of PT Mitra Pembangunan Sultra (MPS) La Ode Gomberto to give bribes worth Rp2.4 billion to Muhammad Ardian Novianto as Director General of Regional Finance Development of the Ministry of Home Affairs in managing PEN loan funds for Muna Regency in 2021-2022.
