JAKARTA - Bangkai Flowers (Amorphophallus Titanum Becc) will soon bloom perfectly in the Cibodas Botanical Gardens. Amorphophallus titanum is a rare and protected plant that has a perfect bloom cycle every four years.

It is predicted that this week the Bangkai Bungai will soon bloom in the Cibodas Botanical Gardens, Pacet District, Cianjur Regency.

The plant from the final friendly (Araceae) from Sumatra is predicted to be the highest corpse flower growing in Indonesia.

Amorphophallus titanum Becc is one of eleven collections of corpse flowers that grow in the carcass flower collection area in the Cibodas Botanical Gardens.

The Head of the Horticulture Coordinator for the management of the Cibodas Botanical Gardens, Latif, in his prediction this Bangkai Flower will bloom perfectly soon this week.

"This carcass flower has the potential to become the largest corpse flower in Indonesia. Because it comes from the parent corpse flower which is more than four meters high," Latif explained in his statement, Thursday, April 18.

The collection of corpse flowers in the Cibodas Botanical Gardens comes from the Manau River, Batang Hauri, Kerinci Seblat National Area, West Sumatra.

The color of the corpse flower is very beautiful with a deep red maroon panorama, even though it emits an unpleasant odor when it blooms perfectly, this corpse flower is very beautiful and charming.

Based on Latif's monitoring results. The collection of corpse flowers with collection number 76, the initial phase of growth begins to emerge 20 cm every Sunday, now it has increased by 10 cm every week, currently the height has reached 3 meters. So when you bloom perfectly, the height can be more than 3 meters.

General Manager of the Cibodas Botanical Gardens, Joko Sulistio, said that the bloom of the corpse flower at the end of April will be one of the gifts for the anniversary of the Cibodas Botanical Gardens. Which on April 11, 2024, is the 172nd anniversary of the Cibodas Botanical Garden.

"If you look at the results of the observational data made, hopefully the corpse flower with a collection of 76 that will bloom this year can be higher than the previous year. The corpse flower last blooms in March 2020 with a height of 291 cm with a diameter of 119 cm." he added.
