JAKARTA - The Eid Al-Fitr Pascalibur, the people of Jakarta have returned to Jakarta and have high intensity activities. This is marked by an increase in electricity consumption by 39.3% compared to the electricity load on the first day of Eid al-Fitr.
General Manager of PLN Main Distribution Unit (UID) Jakarta Raya, Lasiran said that the people of Jakarta who returned to their hometowns yesterday for homecoming have now started their routine again in Jakarta. Offices are starting to operate as usual, shops are starting to reopen, shopping centers are already busy again.
"The increase in activity is reflected in the surge in electricity loads that occurred this afternoon," said General Manager of PLN Jakarta Distribution Main Unit, Lasiran.
Lasiran revealed that during Eid al-Fitr on April 10, 2024, the peak electricity load in Jakarta was 3,353 Mega Watts (MW). However, along with the return of the community to their daily routines, the electricity load has increased 39.3% from the D-day of Eid Al-Fitr to 4,671 MW on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.
Despite the surge in electricity load, PLN emphasized that the availability of electricity supply remains in a safe condition and sufficient to meet the electricity needs of the people of Jakarta. The electricity load on the first day of work is also still lower than the daily average of 5,609 MW.
"With the power to supply electricity of 10,089 MW, PLN is confident that it can meet electricity needs in Jakarta reliably," added Lasiran.
In addition, PLN has been on standby to oversee electricity supply during the Eid al-Fitr period, starting from April 3 to 19, 2024. Not only ensuring the availability of electricity during the long holidays, PLN also focuses on securing electricity at Jakarta's vital points to anticipate the return flow of Eid.
