JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the Constitutional Court (MK), Fajar Laksono, said that he received many amicuscurae or court friends in the 2024 Presidential Election dispute (Pilpres). In fact, the most compared to before.

However, Fajar was reluctant to conclude the meaning of the many amicus thefts that were included in the dispute over the 2024 presidential election. Although, it is undeniable that this is an interesting phenomenon.

"I think if we look at almost all the previous presidential elections, there is indeed no amicus stealing this much. But what is the sign that friends are welcome to interpret themselves, whether this is a form of attention to the Constitutional Court or what, please translate it yourself, but this is indeed an interesting phenomenon," said Fajar.

Apart from that, it was emphasized that the Constitutional Court would accept all amicuscurae. However, whether it will be taken into consideration or not, it is all under the authority of the Constitutional judge.

"Who said we received it. But whether it is considered or not, what is important is that we convey it to the panel of judges," said Fajar.

Quoted by Online Law, Amicus Curiae is a legal practice by third parties outside the litigants to be involved in the judiciary. Unlike the intervention, the involvement of Amicus Curiae is only limited to giving opinions that will later be used by the judge as one of the considerations in deciding cases.
