Yahukimo Police Chief AKBP Heru Hidayanto said Bripda OB (23), a member of the Yahukimo Police, was found dead this morning as a result of being mistreated by an unknown person (OTK). "It is true that Bripda OB was found dead as a result of being mistreated by OTK and his body will be evacuated to Jayapura," said Police Chief AKBP Heru Hidayanto when contacted by ANTARA from Jayapura, Tuesday, April 16. The police chief explained that at around 05.30 WIT he received a report of abuse which resulted in the death of the victim in front of Ruko Blok B Jalan Pasar Baru or about 200 meters from the Yahukimo Police, Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains. "The victim suffered stab wounds all over his body including the head. Members are still investigating and carrying out crime scenes to uncover the case," said Heru. When asked if anyone had been arrested, the Yahukimo Police Chief admitted that two residents were currently being detained for questioning. He said investigators were still asking for information from the two witnesses and it was hoped that they could reveal the perpetrators of the molestation that killed the victim.

Yahukimo Regency is included in the Papua Mountains Province along with seven other regencies resulting from expansion from Papua, namely Jayawijaya Regency, Lanny Jaya, Tolikara, Central Mamberamo, Nduga, Yalimo and Bintang Mountains Regency.
