Be Careful, 475 People Died Due To DHF Throughout 2024

JAKARTA - In mid-April 2024, dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is still a threat as rains hit various regions of the Republic of Indonesia. Based on data from the Ministry of Health, as of the 15th week of 2024, 475 people died from dengue from a total of 62,001 cases.

Launching Antara, in data received in Jakarta, Monday, the Head of the Communication and Public Service Bureau of the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said that in the same period in 2023, there were 22,551 cases of dengue fever and 170 deaths.

Siti explained that the five districts and cities with the highest deaths due to dengue fever in 2024 were Bandung Regency with 25 deaths, Jepara Regency with 21 deaths, Subang Regency with 18 deaths.

"Kendal Regency has 16 deaths, Bekasi City has 15 deaths," he said.

The five districts and cities with the highest dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) cases in 2024 are Tangerang Regency with 2,540 cases, Bandung City with 1,741 cases, West Bandung Regency with 1,422 cases.

"Lebak Regency 1,326 cases, Depok City 1,252 cases," he added.

In the previous week, there were 455 deaths from the disease transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, as well as 60,296 dengue cases.

Previously, in a release on Tuesday (2/4), the Director-General of Disease Prevention and Control Maxi Rein Rondonuwu said there was a risk that the dengue case would continue until the transition season.

Maxi said, as of Tuesday (26/3) or the 13th week, dengue cases in Indonesia were reported to have reached 53,131 people. Meanwhile, 404 people were reported to have died due to dengue.

With the recent increase in dengue cases, Maxi also asked the public not to panic too much. According to him, the most important thing is to maintain personal and environmental hygiene.

He appealed to the public to carry out 3M Plus Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN) activities regularly and thoroughly, especially during the rainy season like today.

"From now on, check cleanliness in the home and the surrounding environment, lest there are items that have the potential to cause puddles. If left later it can become a breeding ground for dengue mosquitoes, if you find them, they should be drained immediately, dried, or closed even if necessary. recycled, "he said.
