JAKARTA - The Cianjur Resort Police (Polres) and the Bogor Resort Police, West Java, have begun implementing a one-way traffic engineering system or one-way from the Puncak area towards Jakarta.

The engineering system was implemented starting at around 12.30 WIB, by opening both lanes for vehicles to go to Bogor. Previously, the flow of vehicles from Cianjur was temporarily closed to drain vehicles from the direction of Bogor.

"So we are waiting here first, pushing the vehicle from the bottom (Bogor) first. Earlier from that direction it was closed (for one way preparation) from 11.30 WIB," said Cianjur Police Traffic Unit Head AKP Anjar Maulana, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, April 14.

With this one way system, the flow of vehicles from Bogor or from the direction of Jakarta can no longer go to Puncak, especially four-wheeled vehicles. Meanwhile, two-wheeled vehicles are still allowed to advance to Puncak but only use the shoulder side of the road.

When one way was implemented, the flow from the direction of Cianjur was congested for about 20 minutes because the cars were starting to fill both lanes. However, after that, the traffic flow gradually went smoothly with crowded conditions.

Previously, one way was implemented by the Bogor Police for vehicles from the direction of Jakarta leading to Puncak. The system is implemented from around 08.00 WIB until 11.30 WIB.

On Saturday or D+2 Lebaran 2024, the one way system for backflow from Puncak to Jakarta is applied for 11 hours, from 12.00 WIB to 23.00 WIB. The engineering is used to break down the density of return vehicles and tourist flows.

The Puncak tourist route that connects Bogor and Cianjur at the Lebaran holiday is not only crossed by people who want to travel, but also the general public who use roads.
