Alkohr Grand Mosque Full Of Extortion, West Java Provincial Government Takes Action

The Grand Mosque of Alkohr went viral because there was a lot of extortion (doc. Grand Mosque Al Jabbar).

JAKARTA - Social media was enlivened by the discussion of the large number of extortion that occurred at the Al Jabbar Grand Mosque on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Visitors had to spend up to IDR 25 thousand just for car parking rates.

When entering, visitors have been asked to pay Rp10 thousand. Then, when leaving the Al Jabbar Grand Mosque area, the parking attendants asked for another Rp10 thousand. Finally, at the exit, visitors had to pay another Rp5 thousand.

Not to mention the rates imposed by the goods deposit officers in the Al Jabbar Grand Mosque area.

Looking at this condition, the West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) promised to bring order to parking attendants and goods deposit officers.

Through the West Java Regional Secretary, Herman Suryatman, the West Java Provincial Government responded by holding a special discussion at the Al Jabbar Grand Mosque Executive Board on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

"This morning the Executive Board of the Al Jabbar Mosque discussed directly including with officers in the field," said Herman Suryatman who is also the Daily Chair of the Executive Council of the Al Jabbar Grand Mosque.

According to Herman, the Executive Board as the party that maintains the Grand Mosque of Al Jabbar wants this problem to be resolved immediately. If extortion is found by unscrupulous officers, the Executive Council will immediately bring order to it.

"We will immediately arrange it," said Herman in a statement from the West Java Provincial Government Public Relations.

Herman said the comfort and security of the congregation had always been the main priority of the Executive Board. Due to the uncomfortable incident of one of the congregation, the Executive Board deeply regrets it.

"On behalf of the Executive Board of the Grand Mosque Alkohr, we apologize," he said.

Herman ensured that the incident was carried out by irresponsible parties, as well as without permission and outside the manager's knowledge.

However, the Executive Board ensures that there will be a comprehensive evaluation of the service system in the field and similar incidents will not be repeated in the future.

Herman suggested that the congregation be more careful with people who collect money in the name of the Al Jabbar Grand Mosque service.

"Just immediately report it to us or the authorities if there is a similar incident (extortion)," said Herman.
