Australian PM Praises The Action Of Police Women Shooting Dead Stabbing Perpetrators In Sydney: He's A Hero

JAKARTA - If there were no police officers, perhaps more lives would have been lost at Bondi Junction Westfield. The woman who became inspector at the New South Wales Police was the first officer to respond to the fatal stabbing. And he also shot dead the perpetrator.

The witness said a man ran towards people with a knife. The perpetrator arrived at the shopping center at around 15:10. He went and came back about 10 minutes later with a knife.

A witness, said he saw the man stab people indiscriminately.

"He ran towards them, or tried... I don't know what he was doing," another witness, another witness, Rohan Anderson, told ABC.

Five women and one man died as a result of the stabbing.

NSW Assistant Commissioner Anthony Cooke said the officer was operating as a "one unit" and was nearby. Arriving at the scene, he was directed by a number of people and faced the perpetrator who had moved to the fifth floor.

"As he walked quickly behind the perpetrator to chase him, the perpetrator turned around and raised his knife," said Assistant Commissioner Cooke later.
