Jimly's Hope, Hopefully All Can Accept Whatever The Constitutional Court's Decision On Presidential Election Disputes

JAKARTA - Former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Jimly Asshiddiqie hopes that all parties will be able to accept the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the dispute over the presidential election which is still in process.

This was conveyed by Jimly when giving a statement to reporters about the latest issues, after attending the Eid Al-Fitr 1445 Hijri halal bihalal with President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana Widodo at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, April 10.

"So after the election, even though it's not over yet, we'll wait for the Constitutional Court's decision later. I hope that all parties give us any trust that we decide to accept later. Yes, because it has to be like that, right? " said Jimly as quoted by Antara.

He said that filing an election lawsuit through the Constitutional Court was a mechanism that had been built since the reforms.

"There is an election, there is a dispute about the results of the general election decided by the Constitutional Court. So if later it has been chosen, the KPU has determined that it will be finalized, so we hope that the inauguration agenda on October 1 will run smoothly, for members of the legislature. The agenda for the President's inauguration on October 20 is also smooth," he hoped.

Furthermore, on that occasion, Jimly also expressed hope that the momentum of Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri could be a momentum for national reconciliation.

"Everything we start with with Eid al-Fitr, reduce tensions, reduce anger in public spaces, control emotions, hate, yes, the momentum is now Eid al-Fitr," he said.
