The Directorate of Drug Investigation of the South Kalimantan Regional Police (Ditresnarkoba Polda Kalsel) arrested one of the drug suppliers in rural areas of Tanah Bumbu Regency which has been troubling the public. "The suspect with the initials AK (23) was arrested in Mekar Jaya Village, Angsana District, Tanah Bumbu Regency with evidence of 14 packages of methamphetamine weighing 617.14 grams and 12 pills of ecstasy," said South Kalimantan Police Narcotics Investigation Director Kombes Kelana Jaya in Banjarmasin, Antara, Monday, April 8. The suspect's drug trafficking activity was revealed after the police received information from the public in Mekar Jaya Village. The team led by the Head of Sub-Directorate II of the Narcotics Directorate of the South Kalimantan Police, AKBP Zaenal Arifien, then conducted an investigation, processed scientific data and observed the movements of targets suspected of running a business that prohibits buying and selling drugs. Until finally on Tuesday, April 2, the target on the edge of Ahmad Yani Street in Mekar Jaya Village was ambushed when they planned to conduct a shabu-shabu transaction. The results of the search found a package of methamphetamine weighing 100.16 grams. Convinced that the suspect still kept more drugs, the police immediately took him to his residence in Makmur Jaya Hamlet, which is still in the Mekar Jaya Village area. "In this house, 13 packages of 516.98 grams of crystal methamphetamine were obtained and 12 pills of pink ecstasy brand Channel weighing 6.85 grams," explained Kelana. Based on the findings of the evidence, the suspect was charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) sub-Article 112 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

"The team is still in the field developing a network of controlling dealers, including chasing one person whose identity has been pocketed because when they were arrested they fled," said Kelana, who appreciated the success of its members in dismantling drug suppliers in Tanah Bumbu.
