Ministry Of Social Budget Drops In 2024, Risma: El Nino BLT Is Not Budgeted

JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Tri Rismaharini said the ministry's budget was IDR 79.2 trillion. The reason is because El Nino's direct cash assistance (BLT) is not included in the 2024 budget. It is known that the Ministry of Social Affairs received a budget of IDR 87.2 trillion in 2023. "Compared to the 2024 and 2024 budgets, our budget has decreased from Rp. 87,275,374,140,000. It has decreased to Rp.79,214,083,464,000. This is because the purchase of blit el nino came out of aid in 2024," said Risma in the General Election Result Dispute (PHPU) session held at the Constitutional Court (MK), Friday, April 5. BLT El Nino is said to have been met and approved by the DPR through a working meeting with Commission VIII of the DPR after 2023. However, the budget for m BLT El Nino and assistance in cases of acute kidney failure will no longer be budgeted in 2024. "2024 there is BLT El Nino and this has been approved by the DPR through a Commission VIII working meeting with the minister of social affairs, on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. This must be completed in December because the 2023 fiscal year, when it falls is November," said Risma. "Only none for BLT El Nino and acute kidney failure (2024 budget)," he continued. Although it was not budgeted, Risma emphasized that the Ministry of Social Affairs should not make this an excuse. In addition, he has the principle of not being late in providing assistance.

"If the poor can survive, sometimes one month they can't eat for up to one month, so sometimes someone is pawned to live the rest of their lives. So we are very disciplined not to be late in distributing (assistance)," said Risma.
