ASDP Merak Prevents Traffic Jams By Homecoming By Port Regulations

JAKARTA - PT. River Transport Lake Ferry (ASDP) Merak Main Branch Port, Banten prevents traffic jams for Lebaran 1445 H/2024 homecoming with port arrangements and distribution through a joint decree (SKB).

General Manager (GM) of PT ASDP Merak Suharto Main Branch Port, said that for the smooth flow of homecoming traffic in 2024 specifically at ports, it had been issued with regulation and distribution of ports through SKB by Bina Marga, Korlantas Polri, and the Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation.

In the SKB there is a distribution of three ports, so that there is no congestion and accumulation of pedestrian passengers and passengers in the vehicle.

The three ports are Merak Port which is the main port, Ciwandan, and Bojonegara.

Merak Port is intended for pedestrian passengers, small vehicles, buses, class 4 D and 5 D. Ciwandan Port for motorcycles, 6 and 7 trucks. Meanwhile, Bojonegara Port for Class 8 and 9 vehicles.

"We believe that with the distribution of the three ports, it is certain that the travelers will run smoothly, safely and safely to their destination," he explained.

Suharto appealed to travelers who want to cross from Java to various areas on the island of Sumatra to travel during the day to avoid vehicle congestion.

So far, the cause of traffic jams and accumulation of vehicles has spread out of ports due to their arrivals along with night trips.

His party asked the public to use ferry transportation services, preferably travel departures during the day.

"We hope that the public can comply with the day-to-day journey, because it is considered more comfortable and safe and smooth," he also said.

Data from the Merak Command Post on April 3, 2024, from 08.00 WIB to April 4, 2024, at 08.00 WIB or D-6, 44 ships were operating with a total of 52,121 passengers.

That number decreased by 31 percent compared to the realization of the same period last year as many as 75,221 people.

Meanwhile, motorcycle travelers recorded 1,918 units, down 53 percent compared to last year's realization of 4,079 units.

Four-wheeled vehicles reached 6,794 units, down 27 percent compared to the realization of the same period last year of 9,305 units.

Buses crossing reached 411 units, down 21 percent compared to the realization of the same period last year of 521 units.

Meanwhile, logistics trucks that had crossed from Java to Sumatra reached 3,316 units, down 3 percent compared to the realization of the same period last year of 3,429 units.
