BNNP Malut Arrests Prison Employees For Drug Trafficking Cases

The personnel of the Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) of North Maluku (Malut) arrested an employee of Ternate Prison with the initials IK who was secured at his official residence along with two residents of Ternate Prison with the initials AR and AL.

Head of BNNP North Maluku Brigadier General Deni Dharmapala said the arrests of the three men after BNN received information from residents about a package suspected of being narcotics class 1 type of methamphetamine that was deposited on the Manado ship bound for Ternate.

After that, at 12.00 WIT, BNN received information that the package was to be delivered to IK at his official residence.

"The team moved from the port directly to the suspect IK's official residence and secured the suspect when he received the package," Deni said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, April 4.

According to him, the package is planned to be delivered to RR, the target of operation, which is a resident of the Ternate Prison. The BNN team also arrested residents assisted by AR and AL who were known to be connecting the illicit trafficking of narcotics on the Medan-Ternate route.

Meanwhile, the evidence that was secured was one clear plastic weighing a gross of 96.78 grams suspected of being methamphetamine (metamphetamine).

The suspects RR, AL, and AR were charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) or Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

Meanwhile, the suspect IK was charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) or Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 127 paragraph (1) of the Narcotics Law, because he received, controlled, handed over or used narcotics class I of methamphetamine which weighed more than 5 grams.
