Landslides In Ciracas, East Jakarta, Two Toddlers Almost Dragged Into Rivers

JAKARTA - A permanent house located near the banks of Cipinang River, Ciracas, Kampung Rambutan, East Jakarta, suddenly collapsed. The house inhabited by a woman and two toddlers was damaged because the foundation of the building was eroded by landslides. Based on Nani's confession, the occupants of the house, initially heard the sound of cracks from inside the house when heavy rains hit. The occupants of the house panicked, immediately saved themselves by taking their two children who were still toddlers from the collapse of the collapsed house wall. The wall was already starting down, it was already tilted down," Nani told reporters, Thursday, April 4. Then the owner of the house fled to save himself by carrying one child under his toddler. Then another child was pulled by the occupant of the house to get out of the house building. "When I wanted to get out, the building collapsed down, my child was immediately saved by a neighbor's husband. If I didn't pull my child, I would have been dragged along with the collapsing house material into the river flow," he said. The collapse of this resident's house is thought to have occurred due to being exposed to rain and eroded the ground behind the house which borders on the banks of Kali Cipinang. "Maybe from the ground the incident when it was raining heavily. All the valuable items were dragged down. Alhamdulillah, I managed to save one of my child, the one of which I pulled down. The wall was already carried down, my legs were stuck," he said. As a result of that incident, he was forced to flee at his neighbor's house. The victim hopes that the government can repair his house damaged due to flooding and landslides.
