JAKARTA - An Indonesian migrant worker named Nurul Huda (36) who experienced physical violence from her employer while working in Oman, has been successfully repatriated to the country.

The woman from Dompu Regency, West Nusa Tenggara arrived in Indonesia on Tuesday (2/4).

"Currently we are still staying in Jakarta before we return it to Dompu," said Director of Protection for Indonesian Citizens and BHI of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Judha Nugraha as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 3.

The case experienced by Nurul surfaced after he uploaded a video via Facebook social media on March 30, asking for help to be saved from his place of work at that time.

In the video, while sobbing, Nurul admitted to being tortured by her employer's child and showing bruises on her left temple that looked like a wound. He admitted that he was not strong enough to work in the house, but his employer's husband always held him out.

In addition to being tortured, Nurul said his employer did not pay his full salary.

Based on the information from the video, the government through the Indonesian Embassy in Muscat immediately moved to the Nurul location, namely Salalah, which is 1,000 kilometers from Muscat.

"Alhamdulillah, we managed to save NHA, we withdrew (the return) from their employer. Their financial rights have also been fulfilled by their employers," said Judha, referring to the initials Nurul Huda.

Responding to the physical violence experienced by Nurul, Judha explained that in fact the Indonesian Embassy had encouraged law enforcement by filing demands.

However, Nurul said he preferred to make peace and asked that all his financial rights be fulfilled.

"So the approach we are taking is a victim-centered approach, we follow the wishes of the victim. The Indonesian Embassy has previously explained the rights of the victim, including the right to prosecute. However, we still leave the final decision to NHA and he chooses to make peace. We respect that," said Judha.
