Yogyakarta-Solo Toll Road Operates, Prambanan Will Become A Concentration Of The 2024 Eid Homecoming Flow In DIY

YOGYAKARTA - Yogyakarta Special Region Police Chief (DIY Police Chief) Inspector General Suwondo Nainggolan said the Prambanan intersection area in Sleman would be a concentration point for the 2024 Eid homecoming vehicle in DIY.

This was conveyed by Suwondo following the policy of opening the Yogyakarta-Solo toll road functionally up to Klaten, during the 2024 Eid homecoming flow.

"The assistance due to the impact of the functionalized toll road will accelerate the entry process (vehicle flow) to Yogyakarta," he said after holding the Ketupat Progo 2024 Operation Force at the Yogyakarta Police Headquarters, Sleman, Wednesday, April 3, was confiscated by Antara.

Therefore, from the Prambanan area, the Yogyakarta Regional Police together with related agencies have prepared a number of alternative route pointings so that travelers who only want to pass do not need to enter the direction of Yogyakarta City.

Based on the predictions of the Ministry of Transportation, travelers entering DIY in Lebaran 2024 are estimated to reach 11.7 million people or six percent of the total population who travel home nationally.

"Those who only want to pass, please pass through not to enter the middle of the city of Yogyakarta, that's our effort," said Suwondo.

To maintain the smooth flow of vehicles, his party has prepared traffic engineering scenarios ranging from the application of contraflow, to the dynamical opening and closing system of lanes according to conditions in the field.

According to him, traffic engineering was decided, among others, by referring to the database of the number of vehicles and people calculated using dozens of CCTVs specifically at a number of points.

"From the CCTV, it will be determined to open and close traffic flow, lighting red lights, green light and so on," he said.

Unlike other provinces, according to Suwondo, in DIY there are usually two spikes in vehicle flow every Eid.

The first spike occurred on the second day of Eid and the second spike occurred a few days before the backflow period.

"So those from outside the region to return to Jakarta first stop by Yogyakarta or who are carrying out agglomerations, namely those who carry out gatherings to Yogyakarta or travel to Yogyakarta," he said.

Dirlantas Polda DIY Kombes Pol Alfian Nurizal said that if the flow of vehicles was observed to be quite congested from Klaten, Central Java, traffic flow would be withdrawn from the Prambanan area to Maguwoharjo, Sleman.

For vehicles that want to go to Magelang, Central Java, he said, they will be directed directly through the ring road, while those who want to go to Yogyakarta City will be welcome to go straight through the State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.

"If you go to a tourist destination, you can go through Piyungan or via the Janti flyover," he said.

Head of Traffic Division of the Transportation Service (Dishub) DIY Rizki Budi Utomo said that the Prambanan intersection area was a crucial point because the vehicle traffic load from the functional toll road during Lebaran was expected to enter the area. "There, all the current loads from the toll road will go there," he said.

According to him, if the flow of vehicles entering from the toll road is very large, the Piyungan-Prambanan road will be prioritized as an alternative to the city of Yogyakarta.

"Vehicles from Klaten, we will turn left towards Ratu Boko Temple. Later there will be several options to enter Yogyakarta," he said.
